General Cargo Vessel Anistar Rescued After Engine Failure in Istanbul Strait

The Togo-flagged general cargo vessel Anistar suffered machinery failure in the Istanbul Strait in Turkey on 21 September. No pollution has been reported in the incident.

The Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Centre responded to the vessel's distress and dispatched a pilot captain and the tugboats Kurtarma 6 and Kurtarma 3 to assist. The vessel was subsequently taken under tow and safely anchored at the Büyükdere Anchorage Area.

Anistar is a 1984-built general cargo vessel that measures 98 meters and 14 meters in width. The incident occurred while the vessel was en-route from Istanbul to Romania.
