Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. (K Line) announced that it will begin operations at the PC14-17 container terminals on the south pier of the Port Island (Stage 2) area of Kobe Port, known as Kobe International Container Terminal (KICT), on September 1, 2026.
In June 2023, K Line signed a basic agreement with Kobe-Osaka International Port Corporation and Mitsui OSK Lines for its relocation to KICT and the integrated use of the terminal facilities, as part of the expansion and functional reinforcement of the terminal in the Port Island (Phase 2) area of Kobe Port. Since then, it has collaborated closely with all involved parties to prepare for the relocation and the start of operations.
When K Line begins operating within KICT, it will become one of the largest container terminals in Japan, handling almost 40% of the foreign trade containers at Kobe Port.
The start of operations is expected to improve the capacity to accommodate large container vessels, provide greater flexibility in berthing operations, and enhance convenience for transshipment cargo.
Together with Nitto Total Logistics, the K Line Group company responsible for the operation of the facilities, the holding company will continue to provide highly convenient and reliable services to shipping companies and customers.
Through this project, K Line will continue to respond actively and flexibly to the diverse needs of its customers, including those related to digital transformation (DX) and environmental initiatives. In accordance with its Environmental Vision 2050, the company works to protect the environment through its activities and contribute to the achievement of a sustainable society, thereby enhancing its corporate value.
