The 50-year-old offshore vessel was sailing from Oman to India when it issued a distress call from Pakistan's Search and Rescue Region (SRR).
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai received the emergency message from the vessel and informed the Pakistani Navy about the situation. After receiving the alert, the Pakistani Navy responded to assist the distressed vessel.
The Pakistani Navy immediately dispatched its ship PMSS Kashmir to the area and provided food, medical assistance and technical support to stabilise the vessel and ensure the crew's safety.
The operation was supported by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), which conducted an assessment of the vessel's condition.
According to PMSA, the 56.65-meter-long vessel's main generator had suffered irreparable damage, rendering it unable to continue its voyage.
Following this, the Indian Coast Guard reportedly requested India's Directorate General of Shipping to arrange a tugboat to tow the offshore vessel to safety.
