The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) welcomed a delegation of approximately 40 representatives from the Business Logistics Council (COEL) at the facilities of the New Multipurpose Dock project in Puerto Armuelles, as part of its outreach and collaboration efforts with the private sector to boost the logistical and port development of the country's western region.
The delegation was received by Eng. Ibis Pérez, Director of the AMP's Planning Office, who, along with the institution's technical team, presented the current status of the project, the progress achieved in its first stage, and the development vision planned for its subsequent phases.
During the meeting, the potential of Puerto Armuelles to become a strategic hub for cargo movement, the development of logistical activities, and the generation of new investment opportunities in the Chiriquí province was highlighted.
The visit also served to explain the institution's efforts to complement the port infrastructure with an integral development vision, which includes the future expansion of the dock's capacities and the utilization of areas designated for the development of a logistics zone. These initiatives seek to create conditions to attract private investment and facilitate new productive and commercial activities.
The participants toured the facilities and were able to directly observe the scope of the executed works, as well as exchange impressions on the opportunities the project represents for sectors related to transport, logistics, production, agro-export, and maritime services.
The AMP emphasizes the importance of maintaining dialogue spaces with organizations like COEL, considering that the participation of the business and logistics sector is fundamental for identifying opportunities, generating synergies, and promoting infrastructure projects that respond to the real needs of the market and the national productive apparatus.
The new Multipurpose Dock in Puerto Armuelles is part of the Panama Maritime Authority's strategy to strengthen the country's port infrastructure and leverage the strategic position of the Panamanian Western Pacific. The project aims to consolidate a platform that contributes to improving regional connectivity and facilitates the incorporation of new cargo and economic activities.
With these actions, the Panama Maritime Authority reaffirms its commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner with the public sector, the private sector, international organizations, and communities to promote competitive, sustainable port development connected with Panama's logistical and productive opportunities.
