Perupetro announced the start of the tender process to select a new operator for Lot Z-69, located on the continental shelf of the Talara basin (Piura), for a period of 30 years.
The purpose is to ensure the continuity of oil operations and incorporate new investments that boost hydrocarbon production in the country.
The current License Contract for Lot Z-69, operated by Petróleos del Perú (Petroperú), expires on May 15, 2027, or on the effective date of a new Hydrocarbon Exploitation Contract, whichever comes first, as established in D.S. Nº 005-2026-EM, which approved the extension of said contract.
As of December 2025, Lot Z-69 reports an average audited production of 3,369 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 8.59 million cubic feet of natural gas (MPCD).
However, said lot could significantly increase its production with the incorporation of new investments.
The Lot Z-69 has an area of 127,056.123 hectares and is located off the coast of the provinces of Talara, Paita, and Sechura, in the Piura region.
The bidding rules and process schedule were published today on the Perupetro website (www.perupetro.com.pe) and are freely accessible to all interested parties.
This is a public and transparent process in which Perupetro will select the bidder whose technical proposal offers the best Work Program; that is, one that includes the greatest investment commitments for the reconditioning and drilling of wells, both development and exploratory.
According to the schedule, companies may submit their letters of interest until December 11, 2026.
Subsequently, Perupetro will send admission letters until December 18, while the deadline for submitting documents for the qualification stage will be December 30, 2026.
Only companies that obtain the corresponding qualification will be eligible to submit technical offers.
The submission of proposals corresponding to Packages N° 1 and N° 2, as well as the opening of Package N° 1, will take place in a Public Act on February 3, 2027. Likewise, the opening of Package N° 2, the evaluation of offers, and the awarding of the Good Pro will take place on February 8, 2027, also in a Public Act.
The bidding rules contemplate Petroperú's participation with up to a 25% stake in the License Contract, subject to obtaining a favorable qualification and the signing of a Joint Association Commitment with the winning bidder.
In addition, they establish the sale of assets owned by Petroperú valued at 15.1 million dollars, under the "as is, where is" modality, with payment in five annual installments.
Likewise, seven assets owned by Petroperú will remain under its ownership and will be subject to a shared use scheme with the future operator. To these is added an asset owned by Perupetro that will also be managed under this regime.
In accordance with current regulations, Perupetro has complied with carrying out the citizen participation process, as a prior step to the call for the selection process of a new operator for Lot Z-69.
Perupetro is a state-owned private law company responsible for the administration of hydrocarbon resources for their sustainable use for the benefit of the country.
