MTC Promotes Coordination Plan Against Congestion at Callao Port Accesses

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru (MTC), through the National Port Authority (APN), held a coordination meeting to address the vehicular congestion recorded at the accesses to the Port of Callao.

Present at the meeting were representatives from the Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU), the Callao Police Region, the Superintendence of Terrestrial Transport of Persons, Cargo and Merchandise (Sutran), the Regional Government of Callao, the Provincial Municipality of Callao, transport guilds, and stakeholders linked to logistics and port activity.

During the meeting, the problem of vehicular congestion on the access roads to the public-use port terminals of the Port of Callao was addressed. The participating entities expressed their willingness to contribute, within the scope of their competencies, to the adoption and implementation of immediate actions aimed at improving traffic management and mitigating the effects of congestion affecting access to port infrastructure.

Likewise, the APN will promote before the competent authorities the updating of the regulatory project that approves the elaboration of the Regulation of Operations of Port Terminals and Piers that make up the National Port System, in order to incorporate provisions that contribute to better management of vehicular flows associated with port operations and strengthen measures aimed at optimizing access to port terminals.
