HHI, KSOE, and Lloyd's Register to Develop Hybrid-Electric LNG Carriers

Lloyd's Register, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering signed an Approval in Principle at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok to design a 185,000 cubic meter LNG carrier with hybrid-electric propulsion. The project aims to develop technical guidelines and requirements for this emerging technology, strengthening market adoption for LNG carriers and future developments in electric propulsion.
