Deugro Opens Wind Turbine Facilities in Port of Antwerp

Logistics company Deugro announced the launch of a new space for the handling and storage of wind turbine components and generators in the Port of Antwerp (Belgium).

In this regard, the company reported that "the port infrastructure offers storage and handling space for the entire range of wind turbine components, from rotor blades and nacelles to tower sections, as well as specialized equipment for handling and managing complex bulk cargo."

"The new facilities in Antwerp feature high-capacity cranes, specialized handling equipment, and extensive storage and pre-assembly areas. In addition, its strategic location offers flexible transport options thanks to direct access to European road, rail, and inland waterway networks," the statement added.

Wouter Gielen, Deugro's Antwerp branch manager, noted that "thanks to its direct access to European road, rail, and inland waterway networks, Antwerp's infrastructure offers flexible connectivity to project sites in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and other countries."

"Its location along the Rhine-Scheldt corridor also allows for the use of river barges as a sustainable transport alternative for large and heavy wind turbine components. Together with strong multimodal connections to the hinterland and its proximity to major project sites, Antwerp is consolidating its position as a strategic hub for the distribution of wind energy components throughout Europe," Gielen concluded.
