Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE National Railway Network, and AD Ports Group have partnered to launch a direct rail service connecting Fujairah Terminals with Abu Dhabi Industrial City (ICAD).
The integrated solution combines a new dedicated freight train service and an inland cargo hub enabled for customs procedures, designed to bring trade closer to customers.
Developed in collaboration with AD Ports Group, Etihad Rail extends the reach of Fujairah Terminals beyond the port gates, allowing cargo arriving at Fujairah to be transported directly by rail approximately 200 kilometers to ICAD, where customers can access customs clearance, inspection, and cargo release services.
A key milestone for this launch is the designation of ICAD with its own code, "AECAD," solidifying its position as a recognized international logistics hub within global shipping and trade systems. For the first time, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and cargo owners can book shipments directly to ICAD as a destination and clearance point.
The solution is designed to serve importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors, and logistics providers operating in Abu Dhabi, enabling them to receive cargo closer to warehouses, production plants, and end markets. With three weekly frequencies, Etihad Rail's dedicated service connects Fujairah Terminals with ICAD, strengthening multimodal cargo flows along the corridor.
