In response to the congestion being experienced in Durban, Maersk is temporarily increasing import detention (DET) free time from 4 days to 5 days for containers discharged at all Durban terminals.
This measure provides customers with an additional day of free time during the period of congestion.
Effective period: Immediate Effect to 31 December 2026
Import DET free time during this period: 5 days, increased from 4 days.
From 1 January 2027: Import DET free time will revert back to 4 days.
This temporary adjustment applies to all import containers discharged in Durban, across all Durban terminals.
