The working group meeting for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) or Middle Corridor (TITR) was held in Sofia, Bulgaria. During the meeting, participants analyzed the current results of the route, the improvement of interaction among its members, and future measures for the development of container transport.
The increase in transit transport volumes was highlighted. In the period January-August 2026, transport indicators for this route were close to planned values, reflecting stable operation and positive dynamics in the development of the TMTM.
Special attention was paid to optimizing the organization of container transport. Attendees examined draft documents aimed at increasing efficiency in coordinating the actors of the transport process, including the draft "Agreement on cooperation and liability regime in the organization of goods transport in container trains along the TMTM route using container ships."
Likewise, the draft "Agreement to ensure the loading of container ships" was evaluated, which includes agreed criteria for the formation and securing of the cargo base intended for vessels operating on the route.
Within the framework of the sessions, tariff conditions and delivery times for goods via the TMTM were discussed. Participants exchanged proposals to increase the route's competitiveness, optimize transport conditions, and ensure more efficient cargo flow management.
Additionally, the members of the Working Group conducted a technical visit to the Port of Burgas, where they learned about its infrastructure, main facilities, and capabilities for cargo processing.
The Working Group meeting and the technical visit to the terminal represented another step in strengthening cooperation among TMTM members, increasing the efficiency of the transport process, and expanding the geographical coverage of cargo transport through this route.
