The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, included in his work agenda in New York a meeting with potential investors seeking to materialize new opportunities in Panama.
The Panamanian president met with representatives of Blackstone, the world's largest asset management firm; and SSA Marine, a subsidiary of the Carrix group, the largest operator of maritime terminals in the United States and America, which has a stake in the Port of Manzanillo, Colón, Panama.
Both groups, working in alliance, showed interest in participating in the new maritime opportunities that will open up in Panama, mainly with new ports and projects in the Panama Canal.
Present at the meeting were Uffe Ostergaard, CEO of SSA Marine; Sebastian Sherman, Managing Director of Blackstone Infrastructure Group; and Kristan Nevins, Managing Director of Government Relations at Blackstone. President Mulino was accompanied by Ministers Felipe Chapman (Economy and Finance) and José Ramón Icaza (Canal), and Kristelle Getzler, Director of the Economic Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Panama.
