During the first half of the year, exports accounted for 80% of the total cargo transferred by the Port of Coquimbo. In this period, the port facility mobilized 264,186 tons.
In the first half of 2026, the complex handled 189,122 tons of bulk and loose cargo, mainly associated with fruit, mineral concentrates, IMO cargo, and project cargo, while 75,064 tons corresponded to containerized cargo.
Among the main cargoes mobilized, copper concentrate stands out with 154,496 tons, followed by fruit with 105,888 tons, of which 33,397 tons were citrus. Other cargoes linked to the region's productive activities include ammonium nitrate and equipment associated with projects.
Regarding foreign trade, exports represented 81.86% of the total cargo transferred, reaching 216,276 tons, while imports accounted for 18.14%, equivalent to 47,910 tons.
Regarding the figures for this first stage of 2026, Ernesto Piwonka, General Manager of Empresa Portuaria Coquimbo, stated that "the results of this first half reflect the multipurpose nature of the Port of Coquimbo and our capacity to handle a wide diversity of cargoes, responding to the different requirements of productive activity and foreign trade. This condition constitutes one of our main attributes as regional port infrastructure and is also the result of coordinated work among the various actors participating in the logistics network."
The activity recorded during the first half also reflects in the movement of vessels and land transport associated with port operations. During the period, the terminal handled 62 vessels, corresponding to the different cargo operations carried out at the port.
In addition, 13,854 trucks entered, a figure that accounts for the land flow associated with the transfer of goods and the port's integration with the various actors that are part of the logistics chain.
In this regard, Empresa Portuaria Coquimbo emphasized that it will continue to work with the various public and private actors linked to port and logistics activity, with the aim of strengthening the efficiency, competitiveness, and continuity of operations, as well as contributing to generating new opportunities for the growth of regional port activity.
