Fire Extinguished Aboard Norwegian Chemical Tanker Near Fredrikstad
A fire aboard the 9,500-dwt chemical tanker Bergstraum was extinguished on July 28 after an apparent explosion triggered a large-scale emergency response off Norway's southeast coast near Fredrikstad. All 15 crew members were safely accounted for with no injuries or pollution reported. Ship manager Utkilen AS confirmed the incident occurred while the vessel was at anchor and stated that immediate priorities include personnel safety, vessel protection, and environmental safeguarding in coordination with Norwegian authorities.
