Bulk Carrier Emil Hit by Russian Drones in Black Sea Attack

The German-owned bulk carrier Emil was attacked by Russian drones on 5 August while sailing 21 nautical miles south of Odesa in the Black Sea. All 11 crew members were evacuated with no injuries reported. The vessel, owned by Johann M. K. Blumenthal GmbH & Co. KG, suffered fire and technical failures. The same day, the Ukrainian grain cargo ship Mera Queen was also attacked, resulting in one crew member killed and three injured.
