Ferry fire off Madura Island leaves 5 dead and 41 missing

At least 5 people died and 41 remain missing after the Indonesian ferry Mutiara Sentosa 2 caught fire off Madura Island, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation. The vessel, carrying approximately 250 passengers and crew, had departed Surabaya bound for Makassar when the fire was reported several hours into the voyage north of the Sapudi Islands. Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation stated that ensuring passenger and crew safety remained the highest priority while coordinating with all relevant agencies.
