AMP Presents B/.205.1 Million Budget for 2027

The administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Engineer Luis Roquebert, and the institution's management team, presented their budget outlook to the National Assembly's Budget Committee, estimating an amount of B/.205.1 million for the 2027 fiscal year.

Of the presented budget, B/.177,052,038 represents operating expenses and B/.28,047,962 will be allocated for investments.

The administrator highlighted that the entity will contribute B/.117.5 million to the Treasury, which is 57.3% of the institution's total gross income.

Among the priority projects contemplated in the budget are the continuation of the construction of the new multipurpose pier in Puerto Armuelles, the strengthening of equipment and monitoring systems for tracking Panamanian-flagged vessels (LRIT), the implementation of the Electronic Ship Registry (REN), and the comprehensive maintenance of navigation aids nationwide.

Funds will also be allocated for the preventive and corrective maintenance of minor ports and captaincies nationwide; the Panama Maritime Single Window system, under the convention to facilitate international maritime traffic (FAL-65-VUMPA), and the construction of the fiscal pier in the District of Almirante in the Province of Bocas del Toro.

It was highlighted that the income comes from the activities of the Merchant Marine, Seafarers, Public Registry, Ports, and Auxiliary Maritime Industries.

For the year 2027, the AMP strengthens the country's leadership as a national and international maritime, port, and logistics platform, with a State Vision; planning and managing priorities and strengthening institutional coordination.
