The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) informs users, maritime operators, and the general public that, following the earthquake registered last Friday, October 9, the following state ports will remain closed until further notice: Puerto Vidal and Puerto Mutis, in the province of Veraguas; Puerto Almirante, in Bocas del Toro; as well as the port facilities located in the provinces of Coclé, Herrera, and Los Santos.
In addition, public service at the AMP administrative offices located in the provinces of Veraguas, Herrera, Coclé, and Los Santos, as well as at the Remedios (Chiriquí) and Almirante (Bocas del Toro) branches, will remain temporarily suspended while the corresponding evaluations are carried out after the seismic movement.
The institution will apply the necessary measures to protect its facilities. However, vessel departures will continue to be handled at the ports of Almirante, Mutis, and Pedregal.
This preventive measure is adopted while the AMP, in coordination with the corresponding entities, completes technical inspections and evaluations to verify the structural conditions of the port facilities and guarantee the safety of their operations.
Likewise, the provision considers the situation of port collaborators whose homes and families have been affected by the seismic movement, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
The AMP urges users and maritime operators to stay informed through its official channels, where provisions related to the resumption of activities will be communicated in a timely manner.
