The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Cape Falcon remained aground for five days after failed refloating attempts off Gladstone, in central Queensland, Australia. No pollution or hull breach has been reported.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of 18 September while the 292-meter-long bulk carrier was attempting to anchor, six nautical miles east of the Port of Gladstone.
According to the spokesperson for Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads, Maritime Safety Queensland continued to respond after two refloating attempts with assistance from the tugboats failed.
All the crew aboard the bulk carrier were safe, with no injuries reported. The vessel is not obstructing the shipping channel, but port operations remain affected as recovery efforts continue.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has launched an investigation into the incident and will detain after the vessel is refloated. ATSB stated the investigators would conduct interviews and collect evidence during the investigation. The seaworthiness inspection will be conducted by the authorities before the vessel is permitted to sail.
