The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), through the Department of Maritime Affairs Investigation (DIAM) of the Directorate General of Merchant Marine (DGMM) and the Department of Pollution Prevention and Control of the Directorate General of Ports and Auxiliary Maritime Industries (DGPIMA), has initiated relevant investigations into the incident recorded yesterday, Monday, September 21st, in the evening, involving the supply vessel Ventura Too.
The vessel, registered under the Panamanian flag, was anchored in the "Brisas de Amador" mooring area, in the Bay of Panama in the Pacific Ocean.
Two crew members were on board and were successfully rescued without injuries after the fire. So far, no hydrocarbon contamination has been confirmed.
The AMP reports that the insurance company has assumed responsibility and contracted a specialized company to move the vessel—which still has active flames—to a safe area, where it will proceed with its controlled sinking.
The institution will continue with the logistics to interview the crew members and gather more details about what happened.
