In response to statements circulated on social media claiming that the Panama Maritime Authority "has decided to disregard" a coastal, riverbank, beach, and seabed easement concession in the Punta Pacifica area, granted by contract in 2013, the entity clarifies the following:
Out of respect for due process and the right of the parties to appeal to the corresponding instances, the institution cannot provide further details while the said process is underway.
The process addresses the concessionaire's non-compliance, including: its status as a suspended company in the Public Registry of Panama since September 5, 2024, a status that legally prevents it from conducting business or disposing of its assets.
There was communication with the concessionaire. The administrative file shows that the company was requested on multiple occasions to regularize its situation.
Administrative decisions are adopted based on the facts accredited in the file, in the concession contract, and the constitutional and legal provisions that regulate maritime concessions.
