Incident in Strait of Hormuz: Vessel Hit by Projectiles

The captain of a commercial vessel reported that his ship was hit by debris from an unidentified projectile, which reportedly occurred while transiting out through the Strait of Hormuz.

Specifically, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received "a belated notification regarding an incident involving an LPG tanker transiting out of the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel's captain reported that the ship was struck by unidentified projectile debris."

"He also confirmed that the crew is safe and that no environmental damage has occurred. The tanker will continue its voyage to the next port of call. Authorities have launched an investigation," it added.

Shortly before, UKMTO reported another incident in the Strait of Hormuz, in which a vessel was hit by an unidentified projectile, leaving two crew members with minor injuries.

Given this scenario, the British agency advised vessels to "navigate with caution in the area and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO."

In both cases, the names of the affected vessels and the perpetrators of the attacks are unknown.
