Crude Oil Spill from Caroline Bezengi off the Coast of Oman

The oil tanker Caroline Bezengi, under sanctions from the European Union and the United Kingdom, is spilling crude oil off the coast of Oman. A satellite image from July 28 shows a dark slick near the vessel, with at least one of its tanks fractured according to analysis by specialist Wim Zwijnenburg of the Pax organization. The monsoon season between July and August could accelerate the dispersion of the hydrocarbon.
