The closure of the western Suurhoffbrug (A15), which has been in effect since 5 pm on Wednesday, has major consequences for the accessibility of the port of Rotterdam. Road users, companies and employees travelling to and from the Maasvlakte will experience serious disruption as a result, as will residents of surrounding municipalities.

The closure affects one of the most important access routes to the port of Rotterdam and will have a significant negative impact on supply chains and economic activity in the area. It is essential that this necessary repair work is carried out as quickly as possible and that the Maasvlakte is once again easily and safely accessible in the short term.
There is no obstruction to shipping under the Suurhoffbrug. The partial closure does not affect freight rail traffic to and from the Maasvlakte.
