Corpus Christi Port Signs Agreement on Nuclear-Powered Shipping Technology
The Port of Corpus Christi signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the U.S. Maritime Administration to explore small modular reactors, port microgrids and nuclear-powered vessel concepts. The agreement, announced by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Maritime Administrator Stephen Carmel, is the second partnership under MARAD's small modular reactor initiative launched in May. The Texas port, the nation's largest petroleum export port and major LNG gateway, will examine how advanced nuclear power could support energy-intensive port and industrial operations on the Gulf Coast.
