Malaysia strengthens controls on shipments destined for Israel's military capabilities
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pledged to crack down on shipments supporting Israel's military capabilities. Authorities seized three containers at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas on August 19, 2026, bound for the Port of Ashdod. Another vessel from the Philippines was detained on August 7, suspected of containing weapons for the Israeli company Elbit Systems.
