Hambantota International Port Sets New Container and Ro-Ro Performance Records
Hambantota International Port (HIP) recorded its highest monthly movement volume in June 2026 with 90,219 Ro-Ro vehicles and 80,325 TEUs. The port prepared for potential supply chain disruptions due to uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz. This result reflects the growth of 2025, when container volume increased from 53,169 TEUs to 428,036 TEUs, consolidating HIP as a container hub.
