80 Mines Detected in Strait of Hormuz Shipping Lanes: IMO Report
The UN's International Maritime Organization estimated Friday that approximately 80 mines are present in the Strait of Hormuz's historic shipping lanes, complicating efforts to restore normal operations following the Iran war. An interim US-Iran peace deal last week has helped restore regional exports to about 80% of pre-war levels, though mine clearing is expected to take weeks. Intertanko advised tanker owners to delay transits until the situation clarifies.
