Egyptian Seafarer Killed as Russian Drones Hit Three Ships off Ukraine

Ukraine reported that one seafarer was killed on Monday, June 22, after Russian drones struck three commercial vessels in the Black Sea. The small general cargo ship Victress (2,386 dwt) caught fire, killing its 58-year-old Egyptian cook, while eight crew members were rescued by the Ukrainian Navy. Two other vessels flying the flags of Belize and Palau were also hit with no injuries reported. Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba stated that Russia has damaged or destroyed 966 port infrastructure facilities and hit more than 200 commercial vessels since its 2022 invasion.
