BluePort Valparaíso Region: Blue Economy Strategy Presented at Ocean Summit
The first Ocean Summit in Valparaíso presented the BluePort Valparaíso Region strategy, developed over two years under the MIT Reap program. The initiative, driven by EIVA, CIN, CiTA, and Corfo, aims to capitalize on the region's advantages: it manages 58% of the country's imports and nearly 30% of its exports, boasts Chile's largest submarine fiber optic cable network, and concentrates over 3,400 science and engineering professionals per capita. The strategy includes three pillars: Digital Logistics Hub, Blue Laboratory, and Dual-Use Platform, with initiatives expected to be operational between 2026 and 2027.
